Terrarium Two

August 31, 2011

So an update on my Terrarium experiment (which you can read about here)

It’s been over 3 weeks now and IT’S STILL ALIVE!!!!

I know, I know… no one is more surprised than I am.

Some observations though….definitely use a container that can be closed!! I was paranoid that my moss couldn’t breathe – so I left it open over night, and it SHRIVELLED UP! (a few drops of water and closing the lid again brought it back to life)

Emboldened by my lack of complete failure, I went moss hunting again last weekend. This time I took Jason with me (he had the extreme privilege of holding the butter-knife and looking like the crazy one this time)

M-MMMMM-MMOSS HUNTING!

I got another glass container from my favourite store for random crap – HOT DOLLAR. It comes with a glass stopper too, and was only $3!

This time I tried to pick denser clumps of moss – as opposed to the delicate leafier moss I chose last time. Hopefully it’s a bit hardier.

I also put in a pebble on the vague notion that it makes it more zen.

WISH ME LUCK!

OMG – I want a Terrarium…we have two or three old fashioned butter knives at home so I’m already half way there really. I do want that bottle with the stopper tho.

You should make one!! I got the bottle at the Hot Dollar store downstairs in World Square. They had quite a few different ones :))
